Runivore and Taiwan Beast Runners, once again, delivered an outstanding trail race event. This edition sent the hundreds of runners to explore the mountains of Xindian and Maokong in Taipei.
After 7am runners started to arrive to the race venue and soon it was full of smiley runners ready to run under really nice weather conditions. It was getting hot but not summer hot, so it was all alright for everyone.
At 8am sharp the 20km group started running. The race started with a full lap to the University track and after that runners had to run for a couple of kilometres along the riverside before hitting the trails.
The great favourite from Taiwan, 周青 Ching Chou looked surprised when Julien Hoareau, french runner on holiday in Taiwan, decided to impose the pace from the moment they hit the road. Sasha Tarasov RUS, Cory Lewandowsk USA, Patrick Scott-Graham UK, Damiano Tietto ITA and other fast runners followed them from a safe distance.
At 8:30 the 13km runners started running and soon after the 8km runners were on their way as well.
The battle for the first place in the 20km race was hard. Julien was showing some climbing power but Sasha and Chou Ching were showing how to go downhill in Taiwan.
Eva Passal, from France also on holiday in Taiwan, was having her own race and ran pretty much alone the whole race. 郭晶晶 was on second place closely followed by Alex Moores from the UK and the other female runners.
At the same time all the runners were having a good time on the trails. The scenery was amazing, the trails were super well marked, and the aid stations were full of fruits and refreshments for all the runners.
Runivore wanted to give an extra challlenge to the 8km runners, so they hid several eggs along the course which could be exchanged for a gift at the end of the race.
Back at the race venue as soon as the runners finished running they were given lots of gifts from Runivore and the other sponsors. Also, every single runner enjoyed a vegetarian lunch and for dessert the best ice-cream in Taipei. Nice-cream provided vegan ice-cream for everyone.
The prize ceremony was soon after and the top runners from all the categories received great prizes.
